Comprendre ce que vous allez travailler

Before solving questions, build the map. Lexique is not simply a list of words to memorise: the goal is to choose language that is accurate, natural and coherent in context.

What is this course training?

You will strengthen the vocabulary, grammatical patterns and text connections that help you understand French precisely and express ideas more accurately.

What will you do in the labs?

You will see a sentence or short text with a missing element, compare the choices, and select the single option that best fits the meaning, natural French usage, grammar or logical relationship.

Important for TEF Canada: for immigration applications, the official TEF Canada test assesses four required skills: Compréhension écrite, Compréhension orale, Expression écrite and Expression orale. Lexique et structure is not a separate TEF Canada test. This Ross Lexique Support course uses original TEF-style language exercises to strengthen the vocabulary, syntax and cohesion that support your performance across those skills.

Comprendre ce qui contrôle la bonne réponse

A gap-fill question is rarely solved by translation alone. First identify which type of evidence controls the answer.

SSens

Which option matches the precise meaning created by the whole sentence or text?

CCollocation

Which words naturally go together in French, even when several options look possible in English?

SySyntaxe

Which grammatical pattern is required by the words immediately before and after the gap?

CoCohésion

Which connector or reference makes the relationship between ideas logical and coherent?

1 · LireRead the whole unit.
2 · PrédirePredict what the gap needs.
3 · ComparerCompare all options.
4 · VérifierCheck the final sentence or text.
02

Worked reasoning

Observez le raisonnement avant de répondre seul

Reveal each example. Notice that the correct answer is supported by a specific clue—not by a vague feeling that it “sounds right”.

03

Guided practice

Appliquez la méthode avec feedback immédiat

Choose an answer. You will immediately see why the correct option works, why every distractor fails, and which clue you should carry into the next question.

04

Independent diagnostic

Testez votre lecture des indices sans aide

No feedback appears while you answer. Submit only when all eight questions are complete; then review your pattern by category.

Learning diagnostic — not an official score. The goal is to identify your current decision pattern, not to estimate a TEF Canada or NCLC result.
